This is a story about free will versus destiny. It is also a story of a young adult who is dealing with feelings of inadequacy and conflicting desires. Armentrout delivers a relatable story and complex characters who love, yet lie to, family and friends. Layla is a confused girl who finally realizes and accepts her need to be loved in a way she thought was impossible for her. It is a feeling that everyone experiences at some point in their life.
This is a story of love, hope, happiness and heartbreak. There are unexpected twists. The plot moves along at a steady pace, enabling readers to keep up with the story. Armentrout has truly delivered once again with a captivating book and mostly likable characters. The ending provides a potential cliffhanger. I can’t wait to be enveloped in the next book in the series, Stone Cold Touch.
